Erdogan kräver omval efter valförlust i Istanbul

TURKIET. Efter 25 år förlorade Erdogans AKP nyligen makten i Turkiets största stad Istanbul. Nu kräver AKP att lokalvalet ogiltigförklaras och görs om.

Det var i början av april som det hölls lokalval i Turkiet, vilket resulterade i att Recep Tayyip Erdogans parti AKP förlorade makten i landets huvudstad Ankara likväl som i landets största stad Istanbul.

I det senare fallet var det in i det sista oerhört jämnt, men i slutändan kunde oppositionspartiet Republikanska folkpartiet (CHP) utropa sig som segrare.

Nu rapporterar Reuters att AKP:s vice ordförande Ali Ihsan Yavuz har lämnat in en klagan om att valet i Istanbul ska ogiltigförklaras och göras om. Enligt uppgifter ska Ihsan Yavuz ha anlänt till Turkiets Högsta valmyndighet (YSK) med tre portföljer fulla med dokument som bifogades med överklagan.

Det återstår att se ifall myndigheten beslutar om omval för Istanbul.
