UTRIKES. Enligt Juan Guaidós sändebud i USA vill han öppna upp landets oljetillgångar för att exploateras av utländska företag.

Juan Guaidó vill öppna upp för att utländska företag ska kunna exploatera landets stora oljetillgångar, detta enligt hans sändebud i USA Carlos Vecchio. Idag kräver landet att det statliga oljebolaget PDVSA står för minst 51 procent av investeringarna i gemensamma projekt med andra oljebolag.

— Vi vill byta till en öppen ekonomi, vi vill öka oljeproduktionen, sade Vecchio i en intervju på TV-kanalen Bloomberg.

— Majoriteten av den ökade oljeproduktionen vi vill se kommer ligga under den privata sektorn.

Den ökände krigshöken och säkerhetsrådgivaren John Bolton har tidigare sagt att det skulle göra ”stor skillnad för USA ekonomiskt” om amerikanska företag kunde exploatera Venezuelas oljeresurser.

Venezuela utsätts just nu för amerikanska sanktioner mot PDVSA och kan därför inte exportera olja till USA. Som svar på detta kommer man enligt Ronny Romero, Venezuelas represtentant i OPEC, istället exportera till länder i Europa och Asien. Romero menar att Ryssland och Kina knappast kommer bry sig om USA:s sanktioner.
