Part of the intimacy with nature that you acquire, is the sharpening of your senses. Not that your hearing or eyesight become more acute, but you notice things more. In city life you tend to be turned inward, in a way. Your environment is crowded with irrelevant sights and sounds, and you get conditioned to block most of them out of your consciousness. In the woods you get so that your awareness is turned outward, toward your environment, hence you are much more conscious of what goes on around you. For example, you’ll notice inconspicuous things on the ground, such as edible plants or animal tracks. If a human being has passed through and has left even just a small part of a footprint, you’ll probably notice it. […] If you hear a sound that you can’t identify, it immediately catches your attention, even if it’s so faint that it’s barely audible. Rabbin knivhöggs av en man som skrek “Allahu akbar”

UTRIKES. En rabbin i den franska staden Strasbourg blev under fredagen knivhuggen av en beväpnad knivman som skrek ”Allahu akbar”. Händelsen inträffade mitt på dagen på öppen gata. Rabbinen klarade sig utan allvarliga skador.

Det var vid kvart i tolvtiden under fredagen i den nordöstra franska staden Strasbourg som en 62-årig judisk rabbin, som kallas för herr Levy, knivhöggs på öppen gata. Enligt uppgifter ska gärningsmannen ha skrikit ”Allahu akbar” i samband med attacken.

Vittnen till händelsen ingrep och lyckades hålls fast gärningsmannen tills polisen kom till platsen och grep den knivbeväpnade mannen. Händelsen har avfärdats som ett terrorbrott och man menar att gäningmannen led av psykisk sjukdom.

Rabbinen, som var klädd i religös klädsel i samband med dådet, vårdas på sjukhus för sina skador, som dock inte ska vara allvarliga.
