WHO vill begränsa alkoholkonsumtionen under coronakrisen

HÄLSA. Alkoholkonsumtionen har stigit kraftigt under coronakrisen i flera länder.

Världshälsoorganisationen (WHO) rekommenderar nationella regeringar att begränsa tillgången till alkohol för konsumenter. Organisationen varnar också för att lätta upp regler relaterade till alkoholkonsumtion.

WHO meddelar att alkohol varje år orsakar omkring 3 miljoner dödsfall. Alkoholintag under ett kristillstånd som coronapandemin kan leda till ökad oro, psykisk ohälsa och våld.

— Vi måste fråga oss vilka risker vi tar när vi lämnar människor hemma isolerade under pandemin med en substans som kan skada både deras egen hälsa och andras, säger Carina Ferreira-Borges, ansvarig för WHO:s program om alkohol och olagliga droger.

På vissa håll i världen har åtgärder införts för att dämpa alkoholinköpen under coronakrisen.
