AFRIKA. Zimbabwes tidigare diktator Robert Mugabe har avlidit, 95 år gammal.

Efter en tids sjukdom har Zimbabwes tidigare president, Robert Mugabe, avlidit.

I Aftonbladet beskrivs ex-diktatorn som en ”frihetskämpe” som suttit fängslad för kritik mot det tidigare Rhodesias styre. Som president körde han landet, som en gång var känt som ”Afrikas kornbord”, i botten.

2017 tvingades han bort av militären efter en statskupp.

”Mitt beslut att avgå är frivilligt. Det kommer av min oro över Zimbabwes folks välbefinnande och min förhoppning om en smidig, fredlig och icke-våldsam maktövergång som betonar nationell säkerhet, fred och stabilitet”, skrev han då i ett brev till parlamentet.

Robert Mugabe blev 95 år gammal.
