UTRIKES. Under lördagskvällen uppstod konfrontationer mellan polis och demonstranter i Beirut.

Under lördagskvällen uppstod konfrontationer i Beirut, Libanons huvudstad, mellan demonstranter och polis, då grupper av de förstnämnda bland annat försökt ta sig in i parlamentsbyggnaden.

Protesterna har anordnats för att kräva regeringens avgång efter den stora explosion som nyligen inträffade i huvudstadens hamn.

Även under söndagen har demonstrationerna fortsatt. I konfrontationer med polisen, som uppstått när man exempelvis försökt ta sig in i byggnader, har tårgas och gummikulor använts av polisen.

I samband med protesterna har Libanons premiärminister Hassan Diab utlyst nyval, något som inte verkar ha lugnat ner situationen.
