Nedlagt sjukhus ska inhysa 700 invandrare

MASSINVANDRING. Nedlagda Spenshults sjukhus i Oskarström nordöst om Halmstad har fått klartecken till att bli ett asylboende. När byggnaden är fullt utbyggd kommer att det att inhysa 700 asylsökare.

I februari skrev Migrationsverket på ett sexårigt hyresavtal med det danska vårdföretaget Transmedica om att hyra gamla Spenhults sjukhus i Oskarström och göra om det till ett asylboende. Planen var att ta emot de första asylsökande i maj men planerna fick läggas på is då bland annat krav på ökad trafiksäkerhet kring sjukhuset ställdes. Nu är dock kravet löst och bygglovet är klart.

Migrationsverket, som ska driva boendet i egen regi, räknar med att de första asylsökande kan tas emot i februari 2016. Därefter, där verksamheten är utbyggd, kommer boendet att ha plats för att ta emot 700 invandrare.
