Storbankens vd straffas för att ha försökt identifiera visselblåsare

STORFINANSEN. Den brittiska storbanken Barclays vd Jes Staley bötfälls för att ha försökt att identifiera en visselblåsare som anklagat honom.

I juni 2016 skickades ett anonymt brev till Barclays styrelse med anklagelser mot bland andra bankens vd Jes Staley. Detta fick Staley att kontakta bankens säkerhetsavdelning för att försöka spåra det anonyma brevet. Han försökte även få tillgång till videomaterial för att få reda på identiteten på den anonyma visselblåsaren, rapporterar Sky News.

Nu straffas Barclays-vd:n för skandalen. Centralbanken Bank of England och Prudential Regulation Authority begär att Jes Staley ska att betala 642 000 pund, motsvarande 7,5 miljoner kronor, för att ha brutit mot lagen genom sitt handlande. Staley blir utöver böterna av med en bonus från Barclays på 500 000 pund.
