Före detta MP-politiker gripen i Turkiet misstänkt för terrorkopplingar

TERROR. En man i 60-årsåldern med kurdisk bakgrund och som tidigare varit kommunpolitiker för Miljöpartiet greps tidigare i maj i Turkiet, misstänkt för att ha kopplingar till terrororganisationen PKK som är förbjuden i landet.

Under förra mandatperioden hade 60-åringen uppdrag som kommunpolitiker och som nämndeman för Miljöpartiet, uppdrag han ska ha lämnat och sedan också gått ur partiet. Mannens vän Rebwar Hassan, riksdagsledamot för Miljöpartiet, säger att 60-åringen var i Turkiet för att besöka vänner och familj.

— Jag har känt honom sedan 2016. Han var mycket aktiv i sociala frågor och miljöfrågor. Jag har inte fått några tecken på att han hör till PKK. Men problemet med Turkiet är att de anklagar alla kurder som är aktiva för kurdiska rättigheter i Turkiet betraktas som PKK, säger Hassan.

Vidare berättar Hassan att mannen är sjuk i diabetes och uppmanar Utrikesdepartementet (UD) att arbeta för att få hem honom så snabbt som möjligt.

PKK, eller Kurdistans arbetarparti, anklagas för att ligga bakom många massakrer och terrorattacker, inklusive mord på tusentals civila i konflikten med Turkiet från 1989 och framåt.
