Nigel Farage lämnar Ukip – anklagar partiet för att vara “besatt” av islam

UTRIKES. Nigel Farage meddelar att han lämnar Ukip, det parti han representerar i EU-parlamentet och tidigare varit ledare för. Orsaken ska vara meningsskiljaktigheter.

I ett öppet brev som publicerats i The Telegraph skriver den brittiske politikern Nigel Farage att han lämnar UK Independence Party (Ukip) med tungt hjärta. Han skriver att Ukip inte längre är “det Brexit-parti som Storbritannien behöver” utan har blivit ett parti som blivit “besatt av islam” och av den islamkritiske journalisten Tommy Robinson, som nyligen fick en rådgivarroll inom partiet.

Nigel Farage har varit verksam inom Ukip i över 20 år och var partiledare mellan åren 2006-2009 och 2010-2016. Han var en av de ledande profilerna inför Brexitomröstningen som skulle leda till att Storbritannien lämnar EU.
