Stor terrorinsats av polisen i Västsverige i natt

BROTT. En person har anhållits misstänkt för förberedelse till terroristbrott och vapenbrott efter en stor polisinsats i Göteborgsområdet. Flera andra personer har tagits in till förhör.

Under en gångna natten och morgonen har polisen i Västsverige gått upp i stabsläge och mobiliserat personal från hela regionen för en stor insats med anledning av misstankar om förberedelser till terrorbrott.

Efter tillslag på flera olika platser i Göteborgsområdet har en man anhållits och flera andra tagits in till förhör. Säkerhetspolisen uppger att det finns internationella kopplingar, men vill inte säga något om det rör sig om misstänkt terrorbrott med islamistiska förtecken eller någon annan form av terrorism.

— En omfattande förundersökning har nu startats. Beroende på vad den visar så får vi se om det kan bli aktuellt med fler gripanden, men det är inte aktuellt i nuläget, säger Gabriel Wernstedt, pressekreterare på Säkerhetspolisen.

Wernstedt säger att insatsen i Västsverige i nuläget inte har några kända kopplingar till terrorattentatet i Strasbourg.
