SPORT. Fotbollsspelaren Albin Ekdal fick ta emot hård kritik efter att han tagit ställning för homolobbyn.

Landslagsspelaren Albin Ekdal, till vardags i italienska Sampdoria, valde i ett pk-utspel att ta ställning för homolobbyn.

— Jag kan inte göra mer än att välkomna alla i fotbollsvärlden. Det kan inte du heller. Men gör vi det alla tillsammans, på varje läktare, på varje bussresa, på varje bortamatch och i varje omklädningsrum så har vi snart inte det här problemet längre, sa Ekdal om så kallad homofobi.

Reaktionen från Sampdorias supportrar på Twitter var dock inte direkt välkomnande. De allra flesta kommentarerna var negativa till Ekdals homovurmande och vissa ska ha varit direkt homokritiska.

Albin Ekdal har däremot fått mer stöd från Sverige än från sina egna fans i Italien. Svenska fotbollsförbundets generalsekreterare Håkan Sjöstrand tycker att ”det är otroligt starkt av Albin” samt beklagar sig över Samp-fansens reaktion:

— Det visar bara att vi måste jobba ännu hårdare med de här frågorna, menar Sjöstrand.

Vilken nytta ökad acceptans för hbtq-personer kommer att generera svensk fotboll och varför resurser bör avsättas för detta klargörs inte.
