Kraftig ökning av coronafall i Melbourne – trots “lockdown”

AUSTRALIEN. Trots att nya karantänregler infördes i början av månaden i australiensiska Melbourne rapporteras rekordmånga nya fall av Covid-19.

Antalet smittade av Covid-19 fortsätter att öka på många platser i världen. I Australien har pandemin tagit ny fart i framförallt storstaden Melbourne.

Då landets premiärminister Daniel Andrews menar att det är ”ohållbart många” nya fall har man sedan den 9 juli valt att sätta staden i karantän efter att man tidigare lättat på restriktionerna. Man tillåts endast köpa mat, medicin, arbeta, studera och motionera.

Trots detta rapporterar Aftonbladet om ett stort antal nya bekräftade fall av Covid-19 i Australien och framförallt i just Melbourne där man det senaste dygnet har registrerat 484 nya fall. Detta kan jämföras med första coronavågen under våren då rekordet för Melbourne var 469 nya fall på ett dygn.

Myndigheterna varnar nu för att restriktionerna i Melbourne kan komma att gälla för en lång tid framöver.
