Fransk militär sätts in vid Gula västarnas protester imorgon

UTRIKES. Fransk militär kommer sättas in vid Gula västarnas protester imorgon.

Enligt ett uttalande från den franske generalen Bruno Leray kommer franska soldater rycka in till stöd för de 5 000 poliser som mobiliserats inför morgondagens protester anordnade av Gula västarna.

— Om deras liv eller livet för de personer de skyddar hotas kan det gå så långt som att de öppnar eld, sade generelen till fransk radio.

De soldater som kommer användas är sådana som vanligtvis ägnar sig åt uppgifter så som anti-terrorism och de kommer i huvudsak skydda offentliga verksamheter.

Det återstår att se hur soldaterna kommer kunna hantera civilisterna. Philippe Capon från polisfacket UNSA är orolig:

— Jag är orolig över hur de kommer besvara eventuella angrepp.

General Leray menar dock att de är ”fullt kapabla” att hantera situationen även om de har ”olika sätt” att hantera problem.
