FRANKRIKE. En muslimsk ledare menade under ett årligt möte att det redan stora antalet moskéer i Frankrike måste fördubblas, på två år.

Frankrikes 2 200 moskéer är inte tillräckligt för landets muslimer och en religös ledare menar att antalet måste fördubblas inom de närmsta två åren.

— Vi har en hel del mötesplatser och halvfärdiga moskéer och det finns en hel del moskéer som ännu inte är byggda… Vi behöver fördubbla [det antalet] inom två år menade Dalil Boubakeur, ledare för det muslimska rådet.

Amar Lasfar, ledare för paraplyorganisationen ”L’Union des organisatios islamiques de France”, som anordnade mötet, menar att antalet moskéer i landet måste spegla den växande muslimska befolkningen. Han anser även att det är det muslimska samfundets rättighet och att ingen ska motsätta sig den rätten.

— Vi har rätt att bygga moskéer och borgmästare ska inte motsätta sig den rätten, uppgav han.

Den officiella siffran på antalet muslimer i Frankrike varierar mellan fyra och fem miljoner människor. Vissa menar dock att det finns närmare sju miljoner muslimer i landet.
