Japan godkände elva asylsökningar 2014

JAPAN. I Sverige godkändes 35 500 asylsökningar under 2014. Siffrorna i Japan var betydligt färre – elva stycken.

Japan gav uppehållstillstånd till endast elva asylsökare under förra året visar nya siffror från det japanska justitiedepartementet. Detta motsvarar 0,2 procent av de sökande på totalt 5 000 asylsökare. Också det är en låg siffra jämfört med exempelvis Sverige men innebär en ökning med 53 procent från året innan.

Hiroshi Kimizuka vid justitiedepartementet säger att de flesta asylsökare kommer av ekonomiska skäl:

— De flesta kommer inte av politiska skäl. I länder som Nepal och Sri Lanka tror de att de lättare kan få jobb i Japan, säger Kimizuka till Reuters.

Det ökade intresset beror på att Japan är attraktivt för utländska gästarbetare, av vilka flera alltså söker asyl men oftast får avslag, uppger japanska immigrationstjänstemän.
