Moské i Jerusalem fattade eld samtidigt som Notre Dame

JERUSALEM. En brand startade i al-Aqsa- moskén i Jerusalem samtidigt som katedralen Notre Dame i Paris tog eld i måndags.

Samtidigt som den kristna katedralen Notre Dame i Paris brann, bröt en eld ut på området vid al-Aqsa-moskén i Jerusalem.

Moskén är för många muslimer den tredje heligaste platsen. Branden misstänks ha varit anlagd.

Brandförsvaret i det muslimska Waqf-området i Jerusalem lyckades släcka elden som startade i vaktutrymmet utanför taket på bönerummet Marwani.

Israelisk polis genomför en utredning av händelsen. Vakten som skulle ha befunnit sig på plats har förhörts. Han lämnade sin post under 15 minuter mellan 19.15 och 19.30 vid ett vaktbyte.

Man vet ännu inte vem eller vad som startat branden men en hypotes är att ”några barn” som tidigare ”hade setts leka i området” kan ha startat elden just under den tid moskén inte vaktades.
